This is actually an old pic that a family member had 

ask for a print of. Looking at it again I thought I would 

share it. I always found it ironic that Mission San Antonio, 

one of the original California Missions is located on what 

is now a military base, Fort Hunter Liggett.

This is the same location I shot last weekend, 

but without the fog it has a completely different feel. 

I love this beautiful old oak tree.

This barn on Hwy 46 and Santa Rosa Creek Road was part of the farm my friend Teresa D grew up on. 

I check in on it from time to time as each season presents it differently.

Two years ago a wildfire closed one of my favorite areas in Big Sur, Lime Kiln. The sign posted at the park entrance after the fire stated: "Closed Indefinately'" I was devastated. 

 It reopened last week and I was pleased to find it mostly back to normal.

On the way back from San Diego we were greeted with this vista  just south of Santa Maria. I came back the next morning, jumped a barbed wire fence, slogged through the mud and put together this panorama. The fields all around had been picked, and these flowers were past their peak so I don't know if the farmer was letting them go to seed (do they do that?) or he left them for freeway travelers to enjoy.  Double click on image to see larger view.

Poppies and Rust

Sue, Sam and I journeyed to Morro Bay for a shot of the sunset, sandspit and sailboats. Instead we got fog moving in, fog moving in and still more fog moving in.  I started to pack up when I looked to my left and saw this scene. It lasted for about 60 seconds before the background light went away.

The sun was rising at my back but still lighting up the clouds to the west as the moon was setting behind Morro Rock. Ten minutes later the sun would have lit up the rock but the moon would have been behind the rock. You can't have everything! Still this was a special shoot because there is a donut shop with hot coffee no more than 200 feet behind me.

Yosemite

Sue and I spent our birthday week in Yosemite. Yosemite is amazing. Yosemite in winter without the crowds is especially amazing.

Burl Wood and Wildflowers at Soda Lake

Trusty sidekick Sam and I journeyed to the Carissa Plains for sunrise. Got overcast instead, but by 8am found some blue sky, wildflowers and burl wood. (Coffee was still warm and apparently dog treat satisfied)

As the coffee cooled so did the weather. It got dark, windy and wet in no time. Sam beat me back to the car.

I know it was overcast and raining but I just got new camera equipment after having been without for nearly a month courtesy of a burglary. I was going to shoot SOMETHING even if it was fog. This is on Santa Rosa Creek Road between Highway 46 and Cambria. Lunch after at Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill. Steamed clams and a nice Chardonnay. That was the end of picture taking for the day!

Two weeks ago my camera equipment was stolen from my car. Since I can't take pics, this blog is an effort to channel my frustration until I can get back behind the camera.
